with subtle transition the vibrant hues give way
upon a fluttering wind and blustery gust
translucent shapes tumble carelessly
once radiant spires shed their emblazoned regalia
shadows lengthen and the waking hours diminish
the land grasping for the vestiges of summer's warmth
an ambient crispness intermingles and then pervades
the journey towards rebirth begins with death
