unexpected

unexpected has become my guest as of late
it stopped by for a conversation and a plate
ill at ease I was by its giddy gait
with each step anxiety quickened its rate

unexpected came in and relaxed
from the circles and journeys it was clearly taxed
it reclined and dined till its comfort was maxed
then it spoke not a few words and clearly it waxed

unexpected began to explain and push
badger complain extol and shush
my constitution caught in a clever ambush
its arguments persuasively kicking me in the tush

unexpected left me alone for a little while
I had a lot of information to unpack and unfile
questions to ponder and assumptions to put on trial
half truths and villainous lies would not beguile

unexpected returned with its eyes set
questioning with which decision I was met
I stammered but confusion it would not let
so I began to expound and detail and worry and fret

unexpected turned to me with a smile most kind
it could sense the hesitancy of my mind
softly it consoled and my heart began to unwind
unexpected were the feelings that I did find
